First Overnight Away

First Overnight From home and Visit with the Cousins

This past weekend (Saturday, June 22nd) we packed up the car and headed to St. Michael to visit your cousins Ava and Cameron. This was our first overnight away from home. Man...how can something so small need so many things?!?!?! We didnt even have to bring half the stuff due to Cam being only 6 days older and having a lot of the necessary items. We def will need a bigger car someday!!

What should have been an under 2 hour car drive turned into a 3 hour drive due to 94 being closed..we had no idea so we soon went from 4 lanes to one and it took an hour to go about 5 miles. This was so frustrating! Thankfully you slept through the whole thing; otherwise we would have had one cranky baby on our hands.

When we finally arrived..we all packed up in the car again and headed to lunch at a local sports bar. The babes slept most of the time while Ava sat by me and craved my attention. Poor girl is used to being the only one and now there are three. We then headed back to Matt and Jodies and enjoyed the beautiful afternoon. Ava played in her blow up pool and we sat around with the babes and watched her splash around.
We then took a long walk with two strollers around their neighborhood. It was a little hot/muggy out but we still managed to enjoy the outdoors.

When we got back we fed and got the kiddos ready for bed and then the adults ordered pizza and enjoyed some kid free conversation..lol.
You did really good sleeping in a pack and play for the first time!! I was a little nervous on how this would go but you did great. You woke up a couple times to eat but went right back to sleep.

First overnight trip was very successful! Its so fun to see the two boys so close in age..they are pretty much the same size and doing the same types of things. Its fun to compare with Jodie too on what they are both doing and to get advice from them too!! Cant wait for our next cousin get together!!!

2 months old

2 Months Old

Where does the time go!!! Cant believe you are two months old!! You are getting to be so much fun. Smiling and cooing and talking to us. Its fun to see you grow and see how much you change each day.

--We had your 2 month appointment today and you are quite the lil chunk!- You weighed 13 lbs 6 oz(with your diaper on, usually they take it off so it may be a little more than what you are), you were 23.25 inches long as well.
--Still sleeping in your crib at night. We try to put you down and then if you wake up only pat your back/butt to get you back to sleep if you wake up..vs rocking you back to sleep every time. You usually sleep about 4-4.5 hours the first time and then wake every 3 hours wanting to eat again. You usually would sometimes not want to go back to sleep in your crib and wed have to bring you downstairs and put you in your swing to go back to sleep until morning(usually around 330am or so)
--Last night(night before turning 2 months) you slept for 5 hours and then made it 4 hours before needing to eat again! Hope that lasts!
--We typically put you down around 8 pm in your crib with your sleep sack after having a bottle and play your music player. You like to sleep on your side and we've even found you on your stomach a few times when weve gone in there. EEK! You are quite the mover! I think youd like to sleep on your stomach if wed let you.
--Eating more bottles now and then I pump. You seem to stay fuller for longer and dont need to snack as often. You typically eat every three hours and eat around 4 ounces...lately you sometimes need 5 though. When you are hungry you scream and scream and it gets louder and louder until you get fed. haha
--Smiling and cooing and talking alot. You are def happiest first thing in the morning (bt 7 and 8 am) after you are changed and fed you are so happy. Def the best part of the day with you!
--You prefer to lean your head to the left (looking to the left more) we are trying to work with you on this so you look the other way more too. We have switched which way we feed you and place you in the crib. Hopefully we can correct this so you don't have problems going down the road.
--Your hair is looking more red and is def wavy. In the humidity it def gets wavy..you prob will have your moms curls! Everyone comments on your crazy/cute hair!
--Still wearing a size one diaper but they are def getting snug. We will be going up to size two in the next couple of days once we finish up the box were on. Well have to take a box back and get a diff size for our little chunk! You have less dirty/poopy diapers..now its usually only one per day and sometimes it will be a couple days and then it will be a huge blowout..usually getting on your clothes too.
--Still love bath time..you like to kick and splash even after were all done. Its a great way to calm you at night.
--Wearing 3 month- 0-3 month clothes...trying to get through all of them at least one time before you go up to the next size. You have so many clothes in this size!
--Love the swing and to look up at the birds. Love your play mat and bat at the toys and coo. You love to stare at them and sometimes look cross eyed..trying to focus on them..Still not a huge fan of the bouncer but Ive gotten you to stay in there a couple of times if I sit and bounce it for you.
--Liking the pacifier a little more but it still falls out a lot. You sometimes try and stick your entire fist in your mouth too to suck..not sure if you actually know what you are doing though.
--Diaper and clothes changing is a lot more pleasant now you dont scream but still move and kick around so sometimes its hard haha
--Not a fan of book reading still
--Love music and being rocked and sung to
--Don't care to sit and be held..like to move around and be walked around facing out
--Like walks for the most part but sometimes you get fussy towards the end
--Stays awake in car seat more now on little trips in the car. Crying when we stop at lights a lot.
--Had first overnight trip to visit Matt and Jodie and cousins up in the cities and did great
--You are awake a lot more during the day..sometimes you'll take a longer 1-2hour nap in the morning and then you'll cat nap sleeping for 20-30mins a lot and then you'll wake up. Sometimes I think this makes you overtired in the late afternoons.

I have three more weeks with you at home and then you'll be home with dad for a couple weeks and then to daycare after that. I am sad I will not be home with you but I know daycare and being around other kids will be good for you and will prob get you more into a schedule too. I will def miss you while I am at work and I have loved every minute home with you!!

First Smile

First Smiles and Cooing

Week 6 has marked the beginnings of first smiles and cooing(talking to us). It is so nice to see/hear!! Signs of a happy baby:) hehe Today he was really smiling and making sounds back to us all morning. He seems to be staying awake more too and likes to play on his play mat; looking up at the toys and hitting them with his hands. Here's too many more smiles and noises!!

5 weeks

5 weeks old

Got first round of baby acne on face, chin, upper chest around the neck area. It does not seem to bother you..prob more us looking at it. I hope it goes away soon.

Getting to be a lot more alert and awake during the days. Starting to smile occasionally at us and making a few coo sounds. Will stay awake more in the car and tolerates his swing awake more; loves to look up at the birds. Focuses on looking at things and us.

Have established a fussy time now--usually around 7pm until bed time. Nothing seems to make you happy you just cry and cry. Youll stop for a few minutes and then start up again. It is not a fun time of day. Sometimes feeding you will help for a while and then you fight going to sleep. We try and start to get you ready for bed around 9pm. We've started to give you a bottle before bed to make sure you are eating enough.

Youll sometimes go for about 4 hours that first time after we put you down. Hopefully you'll start to go that long every time:) We are having you wear 0-3month clothes now so we can have you wear most of them. You have so many! haha

You finally are tolerating diaper/clothes changes now and not screaming the whole time which is nice. You can still be quite the mover though so it can make it harder to change you.

One Month Old

One Month Old(May 24th)

I cannot believe you are already a month old!! The time at home with you as just flown by. The days go by so fast with all the diaper changes, entertaining and feedings.

--Newborn check (Monday after being born) you weighed 7 lbs 11 oz (almost up to your original birth weight)
--2 week check (You were up to 8lbs 11 oz)--doctor said hes gaining 1-1.5 ounces a day and .5 oz a day is normal haha) We have ourselves a chunker!!
--Sleeps in crib in his room since day 1 of being home from the hospital in a fleece sleep sack with arms out
--Sleeps about 3 hours at a time; waking to eat and then goes right back to sleep for the most part. You are a very noisy sleeper and sometimes sleep with your mouth open like your mom!
--Eats around every 3 hours during the day and sleeps most of the day. Alert and awake off an on..kinda fussy and likes to be walked around
--Went to size one diaper at one month old exactly, started to wear some 3 month clothes but they are a little big. New born clothes are getting tight.
--Eats around 4 ounces from a bottle even though he often seems to want more when done.
--Loves to be rocked and sung to
--Loves bath time in his baby bath tub
--Doesn't really love the pacifier..will take it occasionally but spits it out after a while or has trouble keeping it in. Doesn't really use it at night at all which Im fine with. Sometimes he acts like hes gagging when you try and give it to him.
--First babysitter for Jon and Lanas wedding (Grandma Ann and Gpa Miguel)
--Loves walks in the stroller, target runs (as long as you keep moving)
--Usually falls asleep in the car in his carseat
--Smiles and giggles in sleep
--Likes the swing if sleeping and music must be going, sleeps in rock in play during the day for naps.
--Not a huge fan of the play mat or tummy time..Could flip over from tummy to back at three days old--first time I laid him down for tummy time. That is usually done at 4 months old.
--Very active..moves head all around and grabs onto things.
--Will suck on thumb or entire hand
--Will sleep on side sometimes
--Likes to be walked around and facing out to see what is going on.
--Not a huge fan of being read to yet
--Does not like diaper or clothes changed..will scream and scream and kick until you are done
