Olivia Elizabeth is here!!!

Last pic with boys before baby.

Before I forget I wanted to type out Olivia's birth story.  Having a scheduled C-section was definitely a different experience from the boys births.

I got a call the night before from the birth center to arrive the next morning at 6am, for a tentative surgery time of 730am.  I was so thankful I got the first time, as in earlier appoinments they mentioned I was scheduled as the last case of the day.  I was so worried Id be soo hungry and freaked out waiting for my surgery time.

Lees parents arrived from WI the night before to stay with the boys and on Thursday morning Lee and I left for the hospital at 540.  We got up to our room where wed be staying and put away our things.

A nurse came in and hooked me up to a monitor to monitor the baby for a bit and then another nurse came in to get my blood.  The first nurse came back and said they wanted to give me two ivs because of being a higher risk person/surgery in case they would need to give me a blood transfusion etc.  I could sense she was nervous about giving me the IV because shes like oh Im going to ask so and so if she wants to do it or if I should.  Im like great..because I have stubborn veins as it is and its hard to get my blood etc.  She came back ok Im going to do one.  She failed twice..so then another nurse came in and failed the first time and then finally got my iv in.  Shes like well ill see if we can just go with the one since weve pricked you so many times now.  I still have the bruises now to show for it.  (the nurse getting my blood also poked me twice). Joy joy!

Then two surgical nurses came in to get me to take me down to the OR.  They asked if I wanted to walk or take a wheel chair, I said I could walk.  We walked into the cold OR and I sat up on the operating table and waited for the anesthesiologist to came in to give me my spinal.  I had to hunch over like a cat and put my feet up on a stool while the nurses held onto me. I swear it took about 4 times until she got it..my left leg kept zinging which meant it was not working.. finally both legs went numb and it had taken.. The nurses had to lift my legs up onto the table and then we waited for them to set up and for everyone to get into the OR.

My doc had asked what type of music I wanted in the OR I said country.. shes like today s country or more old school..def todays country. I think she liked the opposite hahah.  Everyone in the OR went around and introduced themselves and said over and over what they were here to do. etc.  They had wanted two docs in there in case of emergency and my rare case. (not knowing what theyd run into).  There was some Mayo surgeon that said he was there for moral support. hahaha

Then they finally got started.. Its so weird all I could see was a blue sheet but you can hear them and all I could feel is constant pushing down on my stomach. Not painful but just constant pushing. I thought Id only feel this as they were pulling the baby out but it was the entire time.  After a while they were like wheres dad as it was almost time to pull out baby.. finally Lee came in and sat down next meet.. they then pulled down the blue sheet to a clear one and held up the baby to us.. She cried right away..which I had read some babies via c section don't cry away. It was such a relief to see her after this risky and unknown, anxiety filled pregnancy.  They took her away with Lee and a nurse to check her over and then brought her back over to me for a few minutes.. After a couple minutes Lee and nurse and baby went up to our room to wait for me.  I did not realize Lee would be gone from this point on.  It was a lot of laying there just waiting and feeling like Im all alone.. my arms started to feel shaky.. and I was just hoping everything would go okay.   The nurse anestist switched out and the new guy was my age and very talkative and was just randomly talking to me which helped pass the time more.  It seriously felt like an enterinity.  The doc called over that the placenta was eery wrapped around weird and if I wanted to seeit. Nope don't want to get sick. They did take pics of it and sent it to pathology.  She did say it was the uternine septum (what you are born with) a heart shaped uterus. Its so weird this had never come up before.  She said it was all going well and did I still want to tie my tubes and I said yes.. No more babies here.  lol... finally after I was all put back together they wheeled me back to my room.  I then started feeling itchy and nauseous.  They gave me some benedryl in my room but it didn't seem to help.  I just itched everywhere and I asked if I could eat something.  The nurse is like no if you don't feel good I wouldn't eat.. she finally brought me some crackers which I did eat.  Finally the nausea started to go away and then I got the sudden sweats.. I was so hot and dripping with sweat.. the nurse brought me cool wet towels for my face.  Im like LEe turn the air down.. its as low as it goes. UGH.   I cant remember how long thi slasted but it finally did that day.. I still had my catheder in till prob 4am and constant pressure cuffs on my legs going off non stop.

I never took anything for the pain besides rotating of Tylenol/ibrouphen..and they also gave me stool softners.  Around 4am they took my catheder out and I stood up for the first time with two nurses.  It was so weird to feel like you can barely stand up.  I made it to the bathroom and back and that was considered a victory.  Shortly after the doc who did my surgery came in and talked to me and just said it went as well as it could and explained the uterus and how I could have a surgery to remove etc.  I prob don't need it and wont do it. She was amazed this was never an issue with the other pregnancies and that the boys were able to get head down and deliver normally.  So weird!

The next day I walked around the room more and back and forth to the bathroom. I also ate some real foods.  The nurses did take the baby for us at night some so we could get some rest.  They gave me the option to stay until SUnday but felt I was moving around well that if I wanted I could go home after two nights on Saturday.  We chose this option.  I felt like they weren't doing much for us besides giving me medicine and bugging us..all things I can do at home.

We are so thankful everything went well with the surgery and that Olivia was just perfect.  I was so terrified for the surgery and the unknown.

We headed home Saturday around 1130ish to the boys.  The boys were in love and both wanted to hold her and were mad I had nothing to put in a bottle for them to get her one. Landon ran to the fridgeand pulled out white milk to feed her. bahhahaha

We are so in love with our sweet Olivia and our family is now complete.
